Passmoor Aims to Stabilise Leicester and Build Long-Term Legacy

Rick Passmoor says his primary focus in the early months of his reign at Leicester City Women has been to stabilise the club, as he looks to build foundations for long-term success.

Passmoor was appointed interim manager in early September before being handed a three-year contract the following month. Since taking charge, Leicester have recorded two wins and three draws from 11 matches in the Women’s Super League.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling podcast, Passmoor said the club had experienced significant change in recent seasons.

“There’s been a fluctuation of fortunes over the past three or four seasons with managers and players,” he said. “For us, it was about stabilising things during that period, and we’re still continuing to do that.”

Passmoor, who previously worked as assistant manager at West Ham United Women, said unity behind the scenes has been central to his approach.

“Everybody behind the scenes just has the blue shirt at heart,” he added. “People only see the tip of the iceberg, the 90 minutes on a Sunday, but the hours are intense. You’ve got to make sure every member of staff feels part of what we’re trying to achieve.”

The 45-year-old believes Leicester must prioritise consistency before pushing higher up the table, stressing that progress must be sustainable.

“We’ve got to ensure that we stabilise ourselves before we try to move further up the league,” Passmoor said. “When we pass the baton on, we want to leave a legacy and make sure the club is in a better place than ever before.”

Leicester continue their WSL campaign aiming to convert improved structure and belief into results as Passmoor’s longer-term vision begins to take shape.
