Arsenal Women’s head coach Renée Slegers has signed a new three-year contract, committing her future to the club until 2029. The 36-year-old Dutch coach, who led the Gunners to UEFA Women’s Champions League glory last season, expressed her pride in continuing the journey with the club she has long admired.
Slegers initially joined Arsenal as interim manager in October 2024 following Jonas Eidevall’s resignation. After guiding the team through an 11-match unbeaten run, she was appointed full-time head coach. Under her leadership, Arsenal have remained undefeated at home in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and currently sit third in the table—eight points behind leaders Manchester City at the halfway point of the 2025–26 season.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract here, as I believe we have so much to achieve together—this season and in the years to come,” said Slegers. “From playing in the academy and being in the stands watching Arsenal win the Champions League in 2007, to living it with our players, staff and supporters last summer, I’m immensely proud to have shared this journey.”
Slegers’ commitment signals stability and long-term vision for Arsenal Women, as they aim to reclaim domestic dominance and retain their European crown. The announcement also coincided with the appointment of former England striker Jodie Taylor as the club’s new women’s technical director—an experienced figure expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Arsenal’s strategy both on and off the pitch.
Taylor, who previously played for Arsenal and has had stints in multiple leagues around the world, brings vast knowledge and leadership to her new role. The dual announcements underline Arsenal’s commitment to building an elite infrastructure around their women’s side, as they continue to compete at the highest level.
