George Mason forward Aaliyah Schinaman has earned a call up to the Philippine Women’s National Football Team as preparations intensify for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. The Philippine Football Federation confirmed that the graduate student has been selected to take part in a series of national team training camps throughout February.
Schinaman will join the squad for three separate pre competition camps scheduled from February 1 to 5, February 6 to 15 and February 17 to 22. The training sessions will be held across multiple locations in the Philippines, including Pasay City, Balesin Island and Manila. At the conclusion of the camps, the coaching staff will finalize a 26 player roster for the continental tournament.
The AFC Women’s Asian Cup will take place in Australia from March 1 to 21, with matches staged in Perth and on the Gold Coast. The competition represents one of the most significant events in the Asian women’s football calendar and serves as a key benchmark for regional development and international exposure.
For Schinaman, the call up marks an important milestone in her career. After beginning her collegiate journey at the University of California Berkeley, she transferred to George Mason for the 2025 season. During her campaign with the Patriots, she started 13 matches and logged 888 minutes, contributing to the team’s attacking presence with her pace and forward movement.
Her selection highlights the growing pathway between United States collegiate soccer and international competition, particularly for players eligible to represent nations with strong diaspora communities. The Philippine national program has increasingly drawn from talent developed abroad, blending overseas experience with domestic players to strengthen squad depth.
The February training camps will provide an opportunity for Schinaman to integrate with the national setup, adapt to tactical systems and compete for a place in the final tournament roster. With limited spots available, performance during camp will be critical.
The Philippine Women’s National Team continues to build on recent international momentum as it prepares to compete against some of Asia’s strongest sides. The Asian Cup not only offers continental recognition but can also influence future qualification pathways for global tournaments.
As preparations move forward, Schinaman’s inclusion adds energy and attacking options to the preliminary squad. Her progress over the coming weeks will determine whether she earns a place on the final list traveling to Australia.
