Chicago Stars FC have strengthened their attacking lineup after completing a transfer deal for Canadian forward Jordyn Huitema from Seattle Reign. The move was finalized with Chicago sending 500000 dollars in league funds as part of the agreement between the two National Women’s Soccer League clubs. According to the terms of the deal Seattle will receive 200000 dollars in allocation money along with 300000 dollars in intra league transfer funds. The transaction signals Chicago’s intention to add proven international talent as the team continues building a competitive squad for the upcoming NWSL campaign.

Huitema arrives in Chicago after several seasons with Seattle where she developed into an important attacking option for the club. Since joining the Reign in 2022 the 24 year old forward made 70 appearances and started 58 matches across competitions. During that time she contributed 13 goals and four assists while often operating as a central striker capable of holding up play and creating space for teammates. Her combination of physical presence and movement in the penalty area allowed Seattle to rely on her as a consistent attacking threat throughout multiple seasons.

During the 2025 campaign Huitema continued to feature regularly in Seattle’s lineup where she played 22 matches including 18 starts. She scored three goals and added an assist during that season while maintaining her role as one of the team’s main forward options. Although the goal return was modest the Canadian international remained influential in linking attacking play and pressing opponents in advanced areas of the field. Chicago officials believe her experience in high level competitions and her ability to adapt to different attacking systems will strengthen the team’s offensive structure moving forward.

Seattle Reign management acknowledged Huitema’s contribution to the club during her time in Washington and expressed appreciation for her professionalism on and off the field. The organization noted that she consistently brought energy and commitment to both matches and training sessions while also playing a positive role within the community connected to the team. Club representatives also wished her success in the next stage of her career as she prepares to begin a new chapter with Chicago where expectations will include leading the attack and contributing important goals.

Beyond her club career Huitema is widely recognized for her achievements with the Canadian national team where she has become one of the country’s most experienced attacking players despite her relatively young age. She has earned 96 international caps and was part of the Canadian squad that won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics which remains one of the nation’s most significant football accomplishments. Her arrival in Chicago brings international pedigree and valuable tournament experience to the club as the Stars aim to compete strongly in the evolving landscape of professional women’s football in North America.
