Spurs Feeling the Heat as Frank Admits Urgency With Relegation Fight Closing In

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League season is starting to feel uncomfortably tense, and manager Thomas Frank is not hiding from that reality. After another weekend setback, the Spurs find themselves scrapping for momentum at home, desperate for wins as the bottom end of the table creeps closer.

Speaking after the latest defeat, Frank was open about the mood inside the club. With only seven league wins from 25 matches, Tottenham are sitting just six points above the relegation zone, a position that feels jarring given their far more convincing form in Europe. While Spurs have surged into the Champions League last 16 with three straight wins, domestic results have told a very different story.

Saturday’s 2-0 loss away to Manchester United at Old Trafford was another painful reminder of their struggles in the league. It followed a recent draw against Manchester City that briefly suggested a corner might be turning, only for consistency to slip away once again. For Frank, that inconsistency is exactly why urgency now defines everything.

The Danish coach admitted that the word desperate might sound strong, but insisted it fits the situation. In his view, not winning enough games should create discomfort. That feeling, he believes, is what pushes teams to work harder and find solutions when the pressure is on. For Tottenham, that pressure is now impossible to ignore.

Attention quickly turns to their next Premier League fixture against Newcastle United, a match Frank described as a genuine opportunity despite the challenges. He stressed that the focus is simple and direct. Go out, perform, and take three points. Anything less only tightens the squeeze.

Team selection, however, will not make the task easier. Spurs are dealing with fresh problems at the back. Destiny Udogie has been ruled out for around a month with a hamstring injury, further thinning an already stretched defence. To compound matters, captain Cristian Romero begins a four match suspension after his red card against United. On the positive side, Djed Spence is available again after recovering from a calf issue, offering at least one boost in terms of depth.

Frank acknowledged the strain injuries and suspensions are placing on the squad, describing the group as close to the bare bones. In moments like these, he believes the connection with supporters becomes even more important. The manager called on fans to get behind the team, insisting that collective energy can make a difference when confidence is fragile.

With European nights providing relief and belief, Tottenham now has to translate that into domestic survival. The message from Frank is clear. Spurs understand the situation they are in, and they know results, not performances or excuses, are what will decide their fate.
