West Ham United have completed the signing of England Under-20 international Ria Bose from Portuguese club Sporting on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 19-year-old full-back moves to the Women’s Super League side for an undisclosed fee, becoming the second signing under new head coach Rita Guarino, who was appointed in December.
Bose, who came through the youth systems at Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, spent the last 18 months at Liga BPI side Sporting, where she gained valuable first-team experience.
“I’m so happy to be joining West Ham United,” said Bose. “This is a new beginning and the next step in my career.
I know that West Ham is going to help me progress as a player. I bring a lot of energy, I’m an attacking full-back who likes to get forward but I also pride myself on my defending.”
The Hammers have been monitoring Bose’s development closely, and Guarino believes the teenager has the attributes to succeed in the WSL.
“Ria has a lot of potential,” said Guarino. “She’s a dynamic full-back who can impact the game at both ends of the pitch. She’s been a key figure in the England youth setup and I’m confident she will continue to progress here.”
Bose will wear the number 19 shirt and could be available for selection ahead of West Ham’s next league fixture.
