Brennan Johnson is set to decide his future after Crystal Palace agreed a £35 million deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the Wales international forward.
The agreement between the two clubs is in place, but the 24-year-old has yet to give the move his approval. Johnson is expected to hold talks over the next 48 hours as he weighs up his options, with interest also coming from other Premier League sides. AFC Bournemouth are among those monitoring the situation and see Johnson as a potential replacement should Antoine Semenyo leave during the January transfer window.
Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank confirmed Johnson remains available for selection and praised the player’s professionalism amid the uncertainty.
“Brennan has been a top professional. He trained well and is ready for the game against Brentford,” Frank said.
Johnson’s role at Spurs has diminished this season following the departure of Ange Postecoglou and Frank’s arrival. He has started just six Premier League matches and has not scored in the league since the opening weeks of the campaign.
Tottenham are actively exploring attacking reinforcements, with interest understood in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and Manchester City attacker Savinho, which could further limit Johnson’s minutes.
Despite his reduced involvement, Johnson remains a proven Premier League performer. He was Tottenham’s top scorer last season with 18 goals and scored the winning goal in the Europa League final in May, ending the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy.
